Thanks to a very generous boss, I had a space in his barn to build a mew for my first bird. And, thanks to his amazing father who is retired from building houses, I had wonderful help with the construction!
The mew portion is 8 feet wide by 10 feet long, with windows and doors on each end. The walls are plywood painted with a white epoxy, and windows protected with 0.5-inch electrical metal conduit. The floor is covered with 0.75-inch thick rubber stall mats.
Between the shop door and the mew is a small work space with a bench and area for storage. I still want to add wall-mounted shelf and block perches, and a light in the work room.
